Equitable and Balanced Opportunities for Shareholders
Since ten Middle Kuskokwim communities united in 1977, The Kuskokwim Corporation has been steadfast in its dedication to working for the benefit of our Shareholders. Our Elders and community leaders, with their foresight and wisdom, gifted us with a vision for the corporation, laying the foundation for the success we continue to build on today. Over the years, under the guidance of generations of TKC’s Board of Directors, the corporation has grown and prospered beyond what many once thought possible.
As we approach our 50th anniversary, we stand at a pivotal moment—reflecting on how far we’ve come and looking ahead to the future. The question we must now ask is, where do we go from here? What will the next 50 years of our corporation look like? To help answer this, throughout 2024, TKC’s Board of Directors engaged in strategic visioning sessions to understand the evolving needs of our corporation and our Shareholders.
It is through these sessions and conversations that we identified the importance of re-emphasizing the core principles that will guide us forward—principles that reflect both the legacy of our Elders and the present needs of our Shareholders. These guiding principles—Shareholders, Stewardship, and Sustainability—will ensure that we continue to thrive and stay true to the values that have always defined us, all while adapting to the future with purpose and resilience.
At the heart of TKC lies a commitment to these guiding principles that shape our mission and vision for the future: Shareholders, Stewardship, and Sustainability. We remain steadfast in our mission to serve our Shareholders, preserve our land, and create opportunities that will endure for the next generations. Through these principles, TKC will remain a strong and resilient organization, grounded in the culture and values of the Middle Kuskokwim region.
shareholders
The first core principle of TKC is a dedication to fostering the holistic growth of our Shareholders. We understand that our people are our greatest asset and are committed to supporting their growth in ways that go beyond financial benefits. This growth is rooted in the culture, values, and knowledge of the Middle Kuskokwim region. By embracing traditions, language, and community, TKC works to ensure that our Shareholders thrive both economically and socially, preserving a legacy of cultural heritage for generations to come.
stewardship
TKC’s second guiding principle emphasizes stewardship—a deep responsibility to protect and preserve the land that sustains our communities now and for generations. We are devoted to being careful stewards of Middle Kuskokwim resources, ensuring that the land remains a resilient place of wellness, continuing to support traditional ways of life for the present and future. By integrating sustainable development practices and respecting the natural environment as well as traditional knowledge, TKC aims to maintain a thriving, healthy land that can nurture our Shareholders for generations.
sustainability
Sustainability is the final cornerstone of TKC’s values. Our corporation is dedicated to providing equitable benefits to our Shareholders while striking a careful balance between growth and preservation. This principle underscores a commitment to making business decisions that create long-term, sustainable opportunities for our corporation and our Shareholders. TKC’s approach to sustainability seeks to ensure that the benefits of today’s endeavors will continue to be felt well into the future.
