TKC’s motto is “cutting a path to a better future.” To help the people of our region sharpen their skills and cut a path to economic success, TKC opened the Arviiq Regional Economic Development and Training Center in Aniak.
The purpose of this multifaceted regional facility is to provide a space where our Shareholders and community members can access opportunities, resources and other assistance to learn new skills, increase their employability, and connect (or reconnect) to their culture.
Opportunity Closer to Home
We understand that asking people to leave their homes and families for days, weeks, or even months, is difficult and does not always set them up for future success. We know there are often barriers we experience in the middle of the Kuskokwim that prevent us from accessing education, training, and professional development opportunities, including cost, travel, lodging, and more. We understand the challenge of finding opportunities that take place around our subsistence way of life and obligations to our communities and families. For years, TKC has worked to bridge the gap by collaborating with partners to host trainings in the region and closer to home. The Arviiq Regional Economic Development and Training Center provides us a lasting space, in-region, to serve the educational, developmental, economic, and cultural needs of our people and communities. Here, our shareholders, youth and adult, will learn, collaborate, grow, and connect with our culture.
Learning Model
The cultural values and practices of our region serve as the foundation for the culture of The Arviiq Regional Economic Development and Training Center. The career pathways taught will be based on the needs of local employers and communities. Opportunities offered will be developed in close collaboration with tribal, business, industry, and post-secondary partners, as well as recognized experts. Not only will this ensure that our workers are skilled, in demand, and successful, it will allow us to be sustainable, strengthen our local workforce and economy, and infuse our culture wherever possible.

While TKC does plan to provide some direct trainings, we are working to leverage other programs and organizations to deliver their trainings at the Center as well. Trainings may include (but are not limited to):
- Health Aide Trainings
- TABE Placement Trainings
- High School Equivalency (HSE)
- Vocational and Trade Trainings
- Heavy Equipment Operator Trainings
- Tribal Administrator Trainings
- PCE Trainings & QuickBooks
- First Responder Trainings
- Rural Water & Sanitation Trainings
- Cultural Arts, Practices & Traditional Knowledge Trainings
Workforce Preparedness
In addition to offering trainings, TKC staff will be on-site and available to provide workforce preparation services and assistance including:
- Job searching
- Applying for jobs
- Resume building
- Cover letter writing

The Center will also have a computer lab open to Aniak residents and Shareholders in the region to access to computers, printers, fax machines and high-speed internet.
